Sessegnon nominated for World Golden Boy award

Fulham midfielder Ryan Sessegnon has been named on the 60-man shortlist for the prestigious World Golden Boy award.

The Mail report that Sessegnon’s performances for the Cottagers mean he will come up against the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Christian Pulisic for the crown in December.

Sessegnon has been regarded as one of England’s brightest young talents since making his senior Fulham debut at the age of 16.

The 18-year-old has featured in all four of the club’s Premier League fixtures this campaign, providing an assist for Aleksandar Mitrovic in the defeat to Tottenham at Wembley Stadium.

Sessegnon was being considered for a senior England call-up by boss Gareth Southgate for games against Spain and Switzerland this month but has instead been enlisted by Aidy Boothroyd for his U21 squad.

French star Kylian Mbappe is favourite to win the award, which will be determined by a number of European journalists in December.

However, another Englishman, Trent Alexander-Arnold, is thought to have a shot after establishing himself as the first-choice right-back at Liverpool and taking part in Egland’s run to the semi-finals of the World Cup in Russia.
