Fulham are reportedly interesting in signing young Lyon Forward Maxwel Cornet after his impressive display against Manchester City in the Champions League.
The Sun report that the Cottagers were interested in the 21-year-old in the summer but weren’t prepared to pay the £18m asking price.
Cornet gave the French outfit the lead at the Etihad last week, converting Nabil Fekir’s cross with an impressive first-time finish beyond the back post.
His overall play has caught the eye of boss Slavisa Jokanovic and his scouting team, and the club are set to begin official talks with Lyon shortly.
Cornet joined the French giants in 2015 from Metz, the club where he came up through the academy and made his professional debut.
The Ivory Coast international has 29 goals in 137 appearances which is not prolific by any stretch of the imagination, but Fulham see him as a smart investment given his potential to improve and the age he is at.
Cornet is reportedly keen on a move to the Premier League and sees Fulham as the perfect club to make the transition.
Should he join, he may have difficulty dislodging Aleksandar Mitrovic from the side, who scored his fifth goal of the Premier League season in Saturday’s draw with Watford.
