Fulham are reportedly keen to take experienced centre-back Gary Cahill from West London rivals Chelsea in January.
According to West London Sport, Fulham boss Claudio Ranieri sees Cahill as the solution to the Cottagers’ defensive woes this season.
The Whites have the worst defensive record in the Premier League this season, conceding 40 goals in their 16 matches.
That’s eight more than the next worst Burnley, and Ranieri knows he must shore up the backline should they wish to avoid the drop come May.

Cahill has made just seven appearances under Blues boss Maurizio Sarri this term, with one of those coming in league competition.
The 32-year-old’s Stamford Bridge contract expires next summer and is expected to leave next month, with a number of clubs interested in his services.
Unai Emery’s Arsenal are one of those keeping an eye on the England international’s situation, who of course joined Chelsea in a £7m deal from Bolton Wanderers in 2012.
Fulham have utilised a number of players at centre-back this campaign, with Alfie Mawson, Denis Odoi, Tim Ream and Maxime Le Marchand all being heavily rotated by former boss Slavisa Jokanovic.
