Cottagers express interest in Deportivo striker Martelo
Fulham have reportedly enquired over the availability of Deportivo La Coruna striker Pedro Martelo.
According to the Daily Mail, Martelo has a release clause in his contract with the Spanish club set at just over £900,000.
The 19-year-old is yet to make his first-team debut in Spain but has been impressing with Deportivo B.
He rose to prominence at last year’s U19 European Championships in Finland, helping Portugal to the title with a 4-3 extra-time win over Italy in the final.
Martelo is also of interest to a number clubs in his home country, with his Deportivo deal running out at the end of the season
Fulham boss Claudio Ranieri seems keen to bolster his attacking options ahead of a crucial few months in the club’s battle for survival.
The Cottagers currently sit bottom of the Premier League table after 16 rounds of matches, but perhaps should be looking at defensive additions considering they have by far the worst defensive record out of the 20 top-flight clubs.
Yesterday Read Fulham reported that Ranieri was also considering a move for Leicester City striker Islam Slimani.
