Craven Cottage redevelopment work set to start next May
Redevelopment work on Craven Cottage is set to start next May and will see a reduced capacity for Fulham’s home matches.
As reported by Skysports, the work is set to cost around £80m and the club have now appointed a contractor having received planning permission nine months ago.
The majority of the work will be focused on the Riverside stand, where 4,000 seats will be lost whilst work is in progress.
Club bosses expect to lose a further two to three thousand seats due to safety reasons, taking the capacity down from the current 25,700 to roughly 18,000.
Despite the reduced capacity, it is understood there are no plans to look at relocating to another stadium with the work expected to be finished in time for the 2021/22 season.
However, the people in charge of the project are reportedly keen not to put too strict a deadline on the work considering the difficulties Tottenham Hotspur have encountered with the building of their new stadium.
A ground share with West London rivals Chelsea has been discussed, but club bosses feel it is an unrealistic prospect.
